We went for one of my very favorite drives this weekend out to a yarn shop in Tiverton, R.I. There are long, winding roads with wonderful, old stone walls, lovely homes, and beyond, blue, blue water. Just gorgeous. I pulled over to photograph some horses, and it was so still, I could hear the wing feathers of the turkey vulture that flew over my head.
I spooked this young mare when I stepped in some dry leaves.
Dark horses on a bright day make getting the exposure right challenging – probably why Art Wolfe prefers a slightly overcast day.
This is my favorite shot of the day. As far as I can tell, the composition is perfect!
